There are four major departments at the faculty: 1. Translation Theory and Practice Department (the Head of the Department is V. V. Ilchenko, A.P.). 2. German and Romance Philology Department (the Head of the Department is T. M. Timoshenkova, Cand. Sc. (Philology), Prof.). 3. Ukrainian Languages Studies (the Head of the Department is I. O. Pomazan, Cand. Sc. (Philology), A. P.). 4. Information Technologies and Mathematics (the Head of the Department is P. E. Sitnikova, Ph.D., A. P.). The Philosophy and Humanities, Sociology, General and Applied Psychology, Economic Theory and Law, Physical Education Departments also take part in the basic training. The dean's office employees who work closely with students, their parents, with the departments and agencies of the Academy are in charge for organizational activities of the faculty. The training system at the Faculty consists of four interconnected blocks of disciplines: 1) fundamental humanities (History, Philosophy, Religion Studies, Cultural Studies, Ukrainian and Foreign Literature, Latin); 2) majors linguistic areas (two foreign languages from the first year in an equal amount of academic hours: English and German / French / Spanish); 3) records management disciplines (deep computer training as well as training on documentation and records keeping that allows graduates to work confidently in any modern office and be competitive in the labor market); 4) economics and law disciplines (for graduates to be conversant in the modern business structures and career development). Such a complex of disciplines enables graduates to receive training on the following skills and educational levels: 1) executive assistant with knowledge of a foreign language (2.5 years); 2) Bachelor of Philology with the knowledge of two foreign languages (4 years); 3) Specialist of Translation with knowledge of two foreign languages (1 year); 4) Master of Translation, the teacher of two foreign languages (1.5 years). At the faculty there are qualified teachers, candidates and doctors of sciences. The best graduates of the People’s Ukrainian Academy are also engaged into the teaching process. We invite so-called "guest professors" and native speakers to give classes and lectures: G. Koller, Andrea Arnold, Jan-Peter Abraham, Mathias Zillah, I. Verlyayn, B. Tsepf (Germany); Benoit Hemelsdael, Emanuel Lefevre Remy Charpentier (France); Jane Metisson (Sweden). Faculty members give fruitful results in their research work within the framework of the Scientific School "The Language Semantics as a Reflection of the Conceptual and Linguistic Picture of the World" (the Head of the School is Timoshenkova T. M., Cand. Sc. (Philology), Prof.), the scientific branches for Translation Studies (headed by Ivakhnenko A. O., Cand. Sc. (Philology), A. P.) and for Knowledge-Oriented Information Systems (headed by Lazarenko O. V., Cand. Sc. (Technology), A. P.) also work under her guidance). Students participate in the life of a student's scientific society, and young teachers are members of the Young Scientists Association. Faculty fully provided records databases and translation practice in which students improve their professional skills and get qualified training, working in translation and travel agencies, banks, enterprises, branches of foreign companies, institutions of higher education. Career Planning Lab is engaged in the employment of graduates (the Kharkiv Chamber of Commerce, travel companies "Sam", "Standard", "Elite Tourism", "Astravel", External Relations Department of the Executive Committee of the Kharkiv City Council, the translation agency "Vimari", "Interkolo" the Malyshev plant, CJSC "Irbis Trade House"). During their studies the students could test and improve their language skills during foreign internships and trainings (Turkey, Greece, the USA, France, Germany, etc.). Versatile and rich extracurricular life is not only entertaining but also presents a part of the educational process, promotes team building, helps to gain confidence in the correctness of students’ professional choice, to develop their leadership skills and confidence to face the future. In summer students have practice while working in children's camps in the Crimea and just relax at the sea-shore or in the trips to the Carpathian Mountains.
