Chair of Economic Theory and Law
The Chair is as old as the PUA. Under the supervision of Vorobyov Eugeniy Mikhaylovych, Doctor of Economics, professor, one of the founders of PUA and the Chair’s first head, the Chair plays a leading role in teaching the students of the Business Administration Department. From 1999 to 2000 the Chair was headed by professor Yaremenko Oleg Leonidovych, Doctor of Economics. During that period the Chair became integrated with Specialized School of Economics and Law, forming a joint staff of lecturers and teachers of Economics. Since that time, the Chair has successfully pursued the policy of integration of the educational process in Specialized School of Economics and Law and the Academy at large within the framework of the PUA Program of continuous education. In April 2005, the Chair was joined by several professional economists and lawyers who contributed to the realization of the concept of training economists with an in-depth knowledge of Law. The teaching staff consists of a friendly and creative team of both young and experienced teachers carrying out scientific, methodological and educational work. The Chair aims at teaching fundamental economics and law subjects at all levels and departments of the PUA. The teaching staff are authors of an integrated program of multi-level economics and law training which is implemented in PUA at all levels – in Secondary Economics and Law School as well as the Academy’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. Course-books and other teaching materials on the subjects taught are designed and approbated at Kharkov regional forums of educational ideas and technologies. The teaching staff are constantly upgrading the currently used educational technologies and implementing new innovative ones. Scientific research is closely connected with classroom activities and aims at a deeper understanding of both theoretical and practical issues of modern market economy, various aspects of legal regulation of educational and entrepreneurial activities. The Chair takes care of both fundamental and applied aspects of economic theory and practice. Practicing economists are involved in the teaching process (Pushay V.P.). The teaching staff take an active part in supervising students’ and secondary school pupils’ research work. PUA secondary school pupils and students have won awards in various scientific conferences, tournaments, competitions, etc. Since 2010, the Chair has been supervising “School of Entrepreneurship” in which many secondary school pupils of Kharkov took part in 2014. The PUA lecturers are involved in social work, which includes monitoring the Young Scientists Association, as members of the Scientific-methodical and Library Councils, the Professors’ Council and the Trade Union organization.
